Fertility Drugs

Fertility drugs regulate your reproductive hormones and trigger the release of one or more of your eggs per ovulation cycle. Most women use them for three to six months before conceiving or trying a different kind of treatment.

Success rates: About 20% to 60% of women who use fertility drugs (often with artificial insemination) get pregnant.

Reproductive Surgery

Surgery may help correct genetic defects or blocked fallopian tubes, or remove endometriosis, fibroids, or ovarian cysts.

Success rates: About 40% to 60% of women treated for endometriosis and scar tissue conceive. Between 10% and 90% of women who have their tubes cleared conceive.

Artificial Insemination

During artificial insemination, a concentrated dose of sperm (from your partner or a donor) is injected into your uterus with a catheter.

Success rates: Typically after 4 – 5 inseminations, between 85% and 90% of women get pregnant.

In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

During In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), eggs removed from your ovaries are fertilized with sperm (from your partner or a donor) in a laboratory. The resulting embryos are placed in your uterus. You may need to take fertility drugs before the procedure.

Success rates: Between 28% and 35% of women who try In-Vitro Fertilization conceive.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

During Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), a single sperm is injected into a single egg and the resulting embryo is placed in your uterus. This technique was created for instances where there is a very low count of sperm. If there is no sperm in the ejaculation, a fine needle aspiration from the epididimus, or a surgical biopsy can be performed to retrieve sperm from the testes.

Success rates: About 35% of couples that try ICSI conceive. IECH success rate for ICSI is higher than the average at 40%.

Donor Eggs

Using IVF techniques, an egg donated by another woman is mixed with your partner's sperm and implanted in your uterus. You'll need to choose the donor of the egg— which can be a longer process.

Success rates: Around 45% of women who try IVF using donor eggs conceive.
